OLP Card Overview

OLP (Optical Line Protection) is a fiber optic line backup protection system, which employs advanced optical path automatic switching technology and functions as an optical device designed for switching between primary and backup optical paths in fiber optic communications.

The system automatically monitors the status of the primary and backup optical signals and performs instant path switching when necessary. This ensures continuous operation of the protected system in the event of a complete failure in the main fiber cable, thereby enhancing service reliability for network operators.

OLP optical line protection cards are widely used for primary/backup protection across various trunk lines and in network configurations that require diverse optical path switching. Key advantages include:

  • Direct utilization of optical signals in the path

  • Compact size

  • Cost-effectiveness

  • High reliability

As a result, OLP systems have been widely adopted in numerous optical transmission applications.
